FBI Seeks Assistance in Solving Cold Case Serial Bank Robberies

Charlotte, NC  –  The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force needs the public’s help in tracking down three serial bank robbers.

A black man is suspected of robbing the SunTrust Bank in Wingate, NC on October 24, 2006.  The same man is a suspect in a robbery at the SunTrust Bank at 276 Concord Parkway South in Concord on May 11, 2007.  Agents believe the suspect may have left the Charlotte area between the two robberies.

The second case involves a black man suspected of robbing the Clearview Federal Credit Union at 2830 Boyer Street on October 25, 2007.  He told the teller he had a gun and demanded money.  Witnesses say the suspect took off in a large black sport-utility vehicle.  He’s described as being 5’6” – 7” in height, heavy build, and in his 20’s.  A man fitting the same description robbed the State Employees Credit Union at 10820 South Tryon Street on December 31, 2007.  Agents believe the same suspect has robbed several banks in the Charlotte area since last summer.

We are also asking for help solving a robbery at the First Charter Bank at 6342 Carmel Road on January 18, 2008.  A white man waved a pistol at two tellers and demanded cash.  He’s described as being 20 to 25, 5’11” to 6’ tall, with a thin build.  The same man is suspected of robbing the RBC Centura at 3920 Colony Road on January 15 and the SunTrust Bank on Sharon and Fairview Roads on January 17.

If anyone knows anything about these bank robberies or has information that may help investigators please call the FBI Charlotte Office at 704-377-9200.
