FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASESUSPECT FLEES STATE EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION IN CHARLOTTE WITHOUT Charlotte, NC – The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individual who recently attempted to rob the State Employees Credit Union located at 6630 Executive Circle, Charlotte, North Carolina (NC), but who fled the bank without obtaining any money. On November 19, 2007, at approximately 2:49 p.m., a lone male entered the bank and presented one of the bank tellers with a bank robbery demand note. However, before obtaining any money from the teller, the suspect turned around and walked out of the bank. The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot. No weapon was observed or displayed during the robbery, and there were no injuries as a result of the robbery. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’ – 6’2” in height, thin build, and 25 to 35 years of age. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a light-colored ball cap, a dark jacket with a dark shirt underneath, dark pants, and white shoes. This robbery is similar to an attempted robbery of the SunTrust Bank located at 101 South Kings Drive, Charlotte, NC, that occurred on November 16, 2007. In that case, a lone male entered the bank, approached one of the bank tellers, and presented the teller with a bank robbery demand note. When the teller asked a question of the suspect, he turned around and walked out of the bank without any money. Given the similarities between the robberies, the FBI Charlotte Safe Street Task Force believes that the same individual may be responsible for both robberies. The Safe Streets Task force is releasing the attached images from the surveillance system of the State Employees Credit Union to help identify the suspect in today’s robbery. Anyone with information regarding this case is requested to contact the FBI at (704) 377-9200.
