ARMED BANDIT ROBS WACHOVIA BANK ON ALBEMARLE ROAD

Charlotte, NC – The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the armed bandit who robbed the Wachovia Bank located at 9005 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, North Carolina (NC).

On October 3, 2007, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a lone male entered the bank and approached one of the teller windows. After pushing aside the customer who was being waited on, the suspect, who was armed with a black and silver semi-automatic pistol, demanded money from the bank teller. The suspect also instructed the teller to place the money in a black plastic bag, which the suspect apparently brought with him into the bank. The suspect then approached and obtained money from two other bank tellers. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the area in an automobile. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

The getaway vehicle was described as a Chrysler 300 automobile, light blue or gray in color. The suspect was described as a black male with a medium brown complexion, approximately 5’8” – 10” in height, slender build, and 30s in age. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a black stocking over his head, a striped polo shirt with navy and yellow or gold stripes, and black or navy blue pants.

Investigators from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) and the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force responded to the robbery and are still investigating.

The Safe Streets Task Force anticipates releasing bank surveillance images of the suspect as soon as the images are available. Anyone with information regarding this case is requested to contact the FBI at (704) 377-9200.
