FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE“CLEAN-CUT BANDIT” ROBS THE COASTAL FEDERAL CREDIT UNIONCharlotte, NC – The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individual responsible for the recent robbery of the Coastal Federal Credit Union located at 1835 West W.T. Harris Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina (NC). This individual is being dubbed the “Clean-Cut Bandit” because of his nicely groomed appearance during the robbery. On October 1, 2007, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a lone male entered the bank and presented a bank robbery demand note to one of the tellers. The demand note indicated that the robber was armed; however, no weapon was observed or displayed during the robbery. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect exited the bank and fled the area in an automobile. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery. The getaway vehicle was a two-door, convertible Chrysler Sebring automobile that was maroon or burgundy in color with a black top. The suspect was described as a “clean-cut” black male, approximately 5’7” – 9” in height with a muscular build and about 30 to 33 years of age with short, dark hair and a closely-cut and nicely-groomed beard. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a windbreaker that was white and light blue in color. The suspect also had a shiny earring in each ear. Investigators from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force responded to the robbery and are still investigating. The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is releasing the attached images, including a photograph of the getaway vehicle, from the bank’s surveillance system to help further identify the suspect.
