FUGITIVE BEING SOUGHT BY FBI CHARLOTTE SAFE STREETS TASK FORCE IS APPREHENDED

 

Charlotte, NC – On September 15, 2007, at approximately 10:30 p.m., fugitive David Lamar Caldwell, age 29, was apprehended without incident at a residence on Camp Greene Street, Charlotte, North Carolina (NC), by Deputies and Task Force Officers from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force. At the time of his apprehension, Caldwell was the subject of four orders for arrest for the following state felony charges: possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession with intent to sale and distribute marijuana, and child abuse. With the exception of the order for arrest for child abuse, which was issued in Forsyth County, NC, the remaining orders for arrest were issued in Mecklenburg County.

Caldwell was being sought by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force in connection with the order of arrest for possession of a weapon of mass destruction, which concerned Caldwell’s alleged possession of a sawed-off shotgun. In a press release dated August 8, 2007, the Safe Streets Task Force requested the public’s assistance in locating Caldwell.

Caldwell is currently incarcerated at the Mecklenburg County Jail on secured bonds of $15,000.00, $7500.00, and $30,000.00, respectively, for the aforementioned felony charges pending against him in Mecklenburg County.

The charges for which Caldwell was arrested are only allegations. Caldwell is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
