|
Charlotte, NC – The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual responsible for the recent robbery of the BB&T Bank located at 200 South College Street, Charlotte, North Carolina (NC). The investigation has determined that the suspect initially entered the bank on September 13, 2007, at approximately 9:10 a.m. and spoke with a bank employee regarding opening an account, after which the suspect left the bank. Shortly thereafter at about 9:21 a.m., the suspect returned to the bank and presented one of the bank tellers with a bank robbery demand note, which indicated that the suspect was in possession of a bomb. However, no weapon or explosive device was observed or displayed during the course of the robbery, and the suspect subsequently fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery. The suspect was described as a black male with a medium-brown skin tone, approximately 5’6” to 5’7” in height, 200 to 210 pounds in weight, medium to large build, and 45 to 50 years of age. The suspect had a shaved head and no facial hair. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing beige-colored pants and a black tee shirt that had the image of a gold-colored chain/necklace and a dollar sign (i.e., $) printed on the front of the tee shirt. Investigators from the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the robbery and are still investigating. The FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force is releasing the attached images from the bank’s surveillance system to help further identify the suspect.
