BELMONT
POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FBI SEEKING THE PUBLIC'S
ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING THE INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR A RECENT BANK
ROBBERY
Charlotte, NC -
The Belmont, North Carolina, Police Department and the FBI are seeking
the public's assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for
the recent robbery of the Wachovia Bank located at 6501 Wilkinson Boulevard,
Belmont, North Carolina. The bank robbery occurred on August 14, 2007,
at approximately 9:12 a.m. and involved three black males, all of whom
were approximately early 20s in age.
One of the bank
robbers was described as being approximately 6' in height and weighing
180 - 200 pounds, another was described as about 5'5" - 5'7"
in height and weighing 130 - 160 pounds, and the other was described
as 5'7" - 5'8" in height and weighing approximately 160 pounds.
Two of the three bank robbers wore black shirts, blue-jean pants, and
black baseball caps, and the remaining bank robber wore a dark shirt
and blue-jean pants.
Two of the three
bank robbers actually entered the bank, while the remaining bank robber
remained in the vicinity of the doorway of the bank. During the course
of the bank robbery, one of the bank robbers struck one of the bank
employees across the face with his hand, while the other bank robber
brandished a knife. However, no other weapons were observed.
The bank robbers
subsequently fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, including
a dye pack; so the suspects, their clothing, and/or the bank robbery
loot may be covered in a red dye. The suspects fled the bank on foot
and may have fled the area in a black four-door automobile.
Investigators
from the Belmont Police Department, the Gaston County Police Department,
and the FBI responded to the scene, and this case is still under investigation
by the Belmont Police Department and the FBI.
