Charlotte, NC - The Belmont, North Carolina, Police Department and the FBI are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for the recent robbery of the Wachovia Bank located at 6501 Wilkinson Boulevard, Belmont, North Carolina. The bank robbery occurred on August 14, 2007, at approximately 9:12 a.m. and involved three black males, all of whom were approximately early 20s in age.

One of the bank robbers was described as being approximately 6' in height and weighing 180 - 200 pounds, another was described as about 5'5" - 5'7" in height and weighing 130 - 160 pounds, and the other was described as 5'7" - 5'8" in height and weighing approximately 160 pounds. Two of the three bank robbers wore black shirts, blue-jean pants, and black baseball caps, and the remaining bank robber wore a dark shirt and blue-jean pants.

Two of the three bank robbers actually entered the bank, while the remaining bank robber remained in the vicinity of the doorway of the bank. During the course of the bank robbery, one of the bank robbers struck one of the bank employees across the face with his hand, while the other bank robber brandished a knife. However, no other weapons were observed.

The bank robbers subsequently fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, including a dye pack; so the suspects, their clothing, and/or the bank robbery loot may be covered in a red dye. The suspects fled the bank on foot and may have fled the area in a black four-door automobile.

Investigators from the Belmont Police Department, the Gaston County Police Department, and the FBI responded to the scene, and this case is still under investigation by the Belmont Police Department and the FBI.

The FBI is releasing the attached images from the bank's surveillance system to help further identify the suspects. Anyone with information regarding this case is requested to contact the Belmont Police Department at (704) 825-3764 or the FBI at (704) 377-9200.
