DURHAM FUGITIVE ARRESTED IN FLORIDA Charlotte, NC – Kevin B. Kendrick, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation here, along with agents from the FBI Raleigh Resident Agency, announced the arrest of a Durham fugitive who was found and arrested in Florida. HERBERT EARL LAWRENCE was wanted by Durham Police Department for rape, two counts of kidnaping and larceny of a motor vehicle. Durham Police Department requested FBI assistance in apprehending LAWRENCE and, per the concurrence of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District, issued a federal warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP). LAWRENCE was arrested at a construction site in New Smyrna Beach, Florida at approximately 3:30 p.m. today without incident. LAWRENCE will be taken to the Volusia County Jail until he can be extradited to Durham.
