FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ARREST MADE FOLLOWING FEDERAL SEARCH WARRANT FOR MOVIE PIRACY

Fayetteville, NC – A FBI federal search warrant was executed Thursday in connection with an ongoing criminal matter, followed by an immigration arrest.

GERD HUHN, 44, was arrested in Saint Pauls, in Robeson County, where over 2100 pirated movies were seized subsequent to a federal search warrant. HUHN, originally from Germany, is in federal custody facing immigration violations. Additionally, a computer system was seized allegedly used to duplicate movies.

Today’s search warrant, and subsequent arrest, follows another federal search warrant executed in Bladen County, Monday, where over 400 pirated movies were seized. The two searches were based upon violations of copyright laws and intellectual property rights.

While the search warrant was conducted by the FBI, the arrest was made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and assisted by the United States Marshals Service. The Motion Picture Association of America also assisted in the initial investigation.

The FBI’s criminal investigation continues, along with the United States Attorney’s Office.
