Charlotte, NC – A kidnapped child from Mississippi was recovered here today at approximately 4:00 p.m., through a joint effort involving the FBI, United States Marshall’s Service and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. The victim, a minor, was first reported missing November 27 in Pearl River County, Mississippi, and the father, Joseph Louis Joiner, 49, was suspected of taking the child. There were two active arrest warrants for Joiner from the state of Mississippi: state warrant for the bank robbery, and a federal fugitive warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Joiner is being held in connection with the kidnapping at the Mecklenburg County jail. Working from various tips and information, and utilizing advanced technical means, the victim was recovered at Shopton Road West and South Tryon.
