FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SUSPECTED LOCAL SERIAL BANK ROBBER SOUGHT BY FBI

Charlotte, NC – An unknown suspect has been linked to at least 6 bank robberies in the Charlotte area and the FBI, through its Safe Streets Task Force comprising of agents and officers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, is requesting the public’s assistance.

The suspect is identified as a black or white male (often white make-up is used), mid-30’s, approximately 5’7”-5’8” and between 150-160 pounds. The suspect has repeatedly worn dark sunglasses, a fake, light-colored wig and beard, gloves and often a brimmed hat.

Most notably is that the suspect has brandished a silver colored semi-automatic pistol during the robberies, and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Agents and officers suspect this could be a two person team (one white and one black male) as the suspect’s demeanor in the banks is not consistent, along with slightly different physical descriptions by witnesses.

The following robbery locations and dates have been linked to this suspect:

  • Clearview Federal Credit Union, 2830 Boyer Street, 07/07/2005
  • RBC Centura Bank, 14925 John J. Delaney Drive, 08/09/2005
  • RBC Centura Bank, 230 E. W.T. Harris Blvd., 10/19/2005
  • Wachovia Bank, 1527 W. Morehead St., 12/30/2005
  • First Citizens Bank, 7837 Pineville Mathews Road, 06/05/2006
  • RBC Centura Bank, 1000 East Blvd., 11/01/2006

Anyone with information and/or the identity of the suspect is asked to call the North Carolina FBI at (704) 377-9200 or their nearest law enforcement office.

The photos are bank surveillance shots of the suspect at various banks.
